Vocabulary

shame

[sheym]  noun, verb, shamed, sham·ing.
noun
1.
the painful feeling arising from the consciousness of something dishonorable, improper, ridiculous, etc., done by oneself or another: She was overcome with shame.
2.
susceptibility to this feeling: to be without shame.
3.
disgrace; ignominy: His actions brought shame upon his parents.
4.
a fact or circumstance bringing disgrace or regret: The bankruptcy of the business was a shame. It was a shame you couldn't come with us.
Our society has lost all concept of shame.  In our Reality TV, YouTube, Anything To Be Noticed society, there is nothing that makes us blush or feel like we are scum for being scum.

In a world where we tell our Marines fighting in Afghanistan that they are to be denied cooked meals and in some cases, the meal itself so that illegal alien women that have been here for 20 years and their seven children can get more food stamps, we aren't even aware that we should be ashamed.

stigma

[stig-muh]
noun, plural stig·ma·ta [stig-muh-tuh, stig-mah-tuh, -mat-uh] Show IPA , stig·mas.
1.
a mark of disgrace or infamy; a stain or reproach, as on one's reputation.
There is no stigma anymore to being unemployed, on welfare, receiving public assistance, dropping out of school or unwed births.

In our world failure is rewarded.  Unwed motherhood is rewarded with welfare, food stamps and other public assistance, rewarding these courageous young women for being brave enough to bring a life into the world and support it.  Oh wait, no, we're supporting the young, ignored child while momma is out trying to make more of them with more men who will never love her because she gives herself away far too cheaply and teaches her young to do the same.

There is nothing at all unfortunate in the previous paragraph.  Not a damned thing.

repugnant

[ri-puhg-nuhnt]
1.
distasteful, objectionable, or offensive: a repugnant smell.
2.
making opposition; averse.
3.
opposed or contrary, as in nature or character.

We are not to find babies having babies, murdering of the unborn or illegal immigration as repugnant.  We are inured to accept that this mediocrity is the new normal.  We are just expected to accept everything torn from us that we have earned to be handed in reverence to people we normally would not allow around our young for fear of infecting our young with their stupidity and sloth.

I find the above paragraph repellent. You can look that up yourself.
