I'm stuck in my current writing project, so this is what I turn to when the plot thickens and I must slowly make my way through continuity and characters. Closing one arc and opening another is a tricky business.
I have written about GamerGate, ComicsGate and now AnimeGate rears its ugly head. However, when they come for my gardening or knitting, blue hair will fly and nobody will be able to identify what pieces are left. I've had it. As I write this, I'm listening to a live stream that was playing yesterday while I ate dinner, but was constantly interruped by dogs and spouse. I decided to listen to it this morning.
In GamerGate, the perfidy of Zeo Quinn opening her legs for anyone who could do her a favor closed that "gate" nicely. The NPCs took over and games have tanked every since. Goodbye gaming.
In ComicsGate I had complained for DECADES now, that there isn't a decent book out there. Either the writing is horrible or the art is so bad you want to vomit simply because your eyes can't inform your brain as to what you are seeing. I will not point out anyone in particular, because you can't swing a dead cat in a comic book store without hitting just what I'm talking about. However, traditional comics are dead. Indie comics are doing very well and outselling books that have been on the shelves for decades, with one issue. I'm going to call ComicsGate the winner in this one. Blue hairs alienated and killed an entire industry and all you hear now are their shrill harpy cries as they screech in frustration that they cannot kill it entirely, or get hired.
Evidently, the harpys feel that they are entitled to jobs where they have no talent or inclination.
As I was readying myself for the number of books I ordered last year to begin winding their way to me, the blue-haired screeching harpys decided to attack anime, because they think Japan will react as scared white idiots in America will. I sit back with a bowl of popcorn to watch this happen. They will have a very hard and expensive lesson from two countries, possibly more.
DragonballZ. I don't really watch it. I have walked through my family room for years as it's been on the television screen. My husband watched it with the kids and now our grandson. He's DragonballZ mad.
A voice actor, someone nobody ever heard of, Vic Mignogna, was accused of the typical accusations these unimaginative idiots come up with, including the typical doctored photos, etc., and tons of other things taken out of context.
Here's the thing, Vic appears to be, by all accounts before a few weeks ago, to be a God fearing Christian man who adored and appreciated his fans, including the girls who he hoped would be the future of the niche fandom. What brought on all the blue haired hate? He refused to sign a picture at a convention, fan art, showing the character he voices in a gay embrace with another character. Vic offered to sign another picture, but he would not sign that one. He even waved to the artist sitting across the floor from him.
Cake anyone?
So, because a voice actor, under contract to a company that produces the cartoon you like to watch wouldn't sign your fantasy art, you start rumors about his as a pedo, an asshole, and... RACIST!
Then the bandwagon jumpers all piled on, losing the man contracts, convention invitations and beginning a Twatterstorm of outright lies and pure fabrication that wouldn't stand up to a glance. Literally. They are accusing people who are supporting Vic of swatting them, using pictures of a break in years ago to "prove" SWAT broke into their house in the middle of the night, when they just happened to not be home. Too bad you used the same fucking pictures to how a house break in a couple of years back.
Trial by Twatter. Guilt as accused. No innocence possible.
I despise these people, however, I am forced by reason to allow them to burn their universe down so I can rebuild on the ashes.
There is a GoFundMe to help Vic hire a lawyer and sue a ton of ignorant fucks for defamation and tortuous interference. Same as Ethan Van Sciver did for Richard C Meyer in Comicsgate to sue the stupid and mouthy Mark Waid who bragged about what he did all over Twatter, then ran away like he always does. The man is a worm.
Nick Rikeita has found an attorney to represent Vic, who is very grateful to see he's got a lot of support from his fans who knew the lies and spoke out, then were threatened. He's starting the fund to pay for Vic's lawyer and putting all of the money into an IOLTA account, like EVS did for Zack.
Now Pensacola Comic-Con has decided to go all SJW and retarded. They faked a bomb threat, never thinking anyone would look into it, and saying that Homeland Security was involved. They then sent the threat to EVS, who then posted it on Twatter, only to have the Pensacola FBI office call him, asking what this was about. Neither FBI or Homeland Security knew anything about it. Nor did Pensacola Police Department. So, either it never happened or the Convention runners are being incredibly cavalier about a bomb threat with thousands of people gathered for the farce.
What's your guess?
