Making It Easy For Them To Fool You

I think it was the second Batman movie with Michelle Pfeiffer playing Cat Woman, when she catches a man raping a woman in an alley and dispatches him post-haste. She then turns around and grabs the woman and pushes her against the wall and says,

You make it so easy, don't you? Always waiting for some Batman to come save you.

You can see the video here. One of my all-time favorite scenes.

It makes me think of the gullible media and the gullible public. Both, so ready and willing to be duped and lied to as long as the message fills their pre-supposed conditions for trying to accept that you allow yourself to be lied to and manipulated. Evidently, even The New York Times doesn't realize The Onion is a parody of news today. And it's not the first time they've printed a satire as real news.

Because they are ready to be lied to.

If anyone has seen Martin Bashir's interview with Andrew Breitbart this past week on MSNBC, the man was literally reading off the Media Matters talking points they'd handed out to Libs In Front of Cameras without having actually read Mr Breitbart's book for himself. He was ready for Media Matters to lie to him and they did not let him down. Of course, he also looked like an idiot in front of the 12 or so viewers at MSNBC. But who cares? He's their token brown skinned anchor. No one is listening, so it doesn't matter that Andrew pulled down his pants on air and spanked his bottom until it was a glowing red.

Yes, Media Matters, alright.

Think about this the next time you sit down to read your newspaper or listen to the news. What are they really saying? Start parsing, carefully the words coming out of their mouth, then go fact check on them. You don't even have to have graduated from high school to do it. You can easily fact check and get the real story yourself thanks to the internet. But, you will have to dig deep. Dig deep and get the real story. Don't take the propagandists word for it, make sure YOU know what's going on, don't depend on someone else to keep you current. Educate yourself.

Besides, I love to start unfounded rumors just to see how high they will go. My best to date was some drunken idiot who lost his security clearance when I let it be known his home computer was hacked. It didn't matter that it wasn't his work computer, but his personal computer I was talking about, the guy got drunk and started talking. His betters should have checked out his liver damage and loose lips before they gave him access to sensitive material. He was compromised American ready to be exploited by some foreign power for their gain.

Don't worry about him, he's still sucking off the government teat like a good Liberal. He's just not allowed around things like hot mikes at a Presidential dinner or anything.
