Weaving The Tapestry of Your Life

I knit. I knit a lot. Knitting is the act of combining loops in a fashion that creates a fabric and object. Unlike weaving, it creates the object as it creates the fabric. You care creating both things simultaneously. That is why hand-knitted pieces should be treasured by those who receive them because so much care and love goes in to each stitch made. Scandinavian knitters have a tradition of adding one of the knitter's hairs into the piece so that a piece of themselves goes into each project. Knitting and crocheting are possibly the most intimate arts of fabric making when you get right down to it. Each loop, each stitch is formed by the creator to make an entire thing that is then given to someone. During the time the piece is created, much thinking is done on the person to whom that item will be given. It is intensely personal.

It has been said that congress weaves legislation into a tapestry laws that govern our land. It is also said that the process is much more like sausage making and that no one should ever see the process actually in action. After the past year of watching Obamacare being shoved down our throats, I can honestly say, sunlight is a wonderful disinfectant. We now see the profligacy, the incompetence, the ignorance, and most importantly, the hubris of our elected officials.

If I remember high school and college government classes correctly, our representatives to Congress are voted to represent our views, our wants, our needs. However, certain liberal progressives within our elected representation have determined that we are too stupid, and too much like cattle to know what is good for us, so the few of them should decide for all of us and let Momma Gubmint take care of us for we are too ignorant to care for ourselves. I beg to differ.

Nancy Pelosi is Ivy Starnes who wants us all on our knees in front of her begging for the crumbs she will determine that we deserve. Who the f$ck gave her Godship over anyone but herself? Harry Reid and his Gerald Starnes-like running of the Senate is worthy of a Keystone Cops reel in itself. Both of these people disgust me. Rahm Emanuel is like Cuffy Meigs. All that is missing is the black paramilitary uniform and black boots. Alles klar, Herr Kommisar?

I will say this right now to my elected congressional representative, Chet Edwards. I know what brand cars you and your wife drive. I also know that the car dealer who gives you those democars also got the Dodge Dealership that was taken away from Sam Nay. I also know that you sent out an email to every single one of us saying you would not vote for Obamacare because you heard our voices, and I know that you did,in fact vote for it in an underhanded, skeevy way. I also know that I sent this information to the person who won the primary for the Republican side. As The Bard said in Henry V, "Read then, and know that I know your worth."

To each elected official who goes to Washington to do their own will and the will of the lobbyists. We now know your worth. November will be a bloodbath because our memories are not so short, and we are not as stupid as you would like to think we are. What are they weaving for us? What tangled knots are they knitting to better us? I doubt that one hair on your head was shed in any real care for us, the people.

Read that, and know that we know your worth.
